On behalf of the entire staff, we’d like to thank all the folks who celebrated GRM Speedfest at the Classic Motorsports Mitty with us at Road Atlanta. Fans that were braver than the weather forecaster were rewarded with lasting memories of dreams come true.

As always, there was plenty of great on-track action, featuring a knock ‘em-sock ‘em showdown in the Ford Racing Miller Cup Challenge race and a thrilling round of action in the SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup. HSR’s racers kept up the pace with a peek at the state-of-yesterdays-art in the F1 Historic Gran Prix among many other exciting historic classes.

When the sun set on the days racing, it simply led to exuberant off-track celebration at the Classic Motorsports tent as we entertained everyone from the legendary Bob Bondurant to Playboy Playmates Stephanie Glasson, Deanna Brooks, and Shallan Meiers.

Our readers were invited to join us saturday night in the Moss pub inside the Classic Motorsports tent as we enjoyed music, darts, slot car racing, and plenty of great conversation. Free beer ensured that everyone had something to smile about.

The Classic Motorsports big-top tent also home to legendary Miata gurus Bill Cardell and Keith Tanner from Flyin’ Miata. They spent a bit of time on Friday and the better part of Saturday performing a complete installation of their FMII turbo kit. By Sunday, they had more than doubled the car’s horsepower and proved it at the dynamometer.

Car Corrals for nearly every conceivable make dotted the hills of Road Atlanta, giving marque enthusiasts a place to bond. Oddballs and orphans were welcome as well, so keen-eyed spectators could see everything from a general-issue Unimog to the original Cadillac-Healey built for Briggs Cunningham himself.

If you happened to miss this terrific event, keep your eyes on the pages of Classic Motorsports and Grassroots Motorsports magazines for in-depth coverage of the activities, and consider making plans now to attend next year’s event.
