Is there anything at the tracks that just make your day? Whenever I go to Road America, I get more kicks out of the stuff outside the track than inside (not really). A stranger mentioned it to me last weekend that it is an awesome car show at Road America.
What cool stuff do you see at the races?
For Road Atlanta, I would say the hoonage you can find in the evening if you happen to be camping at the track. I am sure a few here know what I am talking about. ;)
Yeah, there's always neat cars in the parking lot at most road courses.
As for other stuff....
If you're at Watkins Glen, you have to stop in at the Seneca Lodge and at least get a drink. The WG motorsports museum, the actual "glen" and the nearby aviation museum are all neat things too. And there are some good wine festivals in that area.
At New Jersey Motorsports Park, you are roughly mid-point between Atlantic City and Cape May........so you can choose your "poison" (I'd take Cape May).
If you go out to BeaveRun, I'd try to see the National Aviary in Pittsburgh and maybe "The Incline".
If you go to Summit Point, Mr. Scott has a darn nice collection of antique tractors (many of them Porsches!) on site.
Rev. Bubba, I have to ask, is your avatar a pic from those guys that pull pranks on the DMV? If it is awesome, if not, they are still awesome.

Believe it or not, it is actually my picture on my drivers license. I taped my glasses and waxed my mustache for that one. I had to stand in line in a room full of about 100 people for an hour to get that pic. I wanted to be sure I had one of the worst pictures on record.

As for you, aeronca65t, I can't say that we are fortunate enough to have as much of a rich history as the Glen but it is also true about the parking area. It is like a huge car show of every make and model. For a couple years they had Lotus Elises that you could drive on the autocross track. I miss that.

I saw a car burn at the Glen in the late 60s....much more hoonage then than there is now.
These days, the best place to see serious car beatin's is ~Hyperfest at Summit Point~
RA isn't that far from that big 8th Air Force museum or Stone Mountain...neat things to see.

^ late '60's maybe early '70's I was camping near the "bog" in the infield camping area at Watkins Glen during one of the Formula1 races and they rolled over and burned a bus. I never saw much hoonage, probably I was too busy drinking beer.

Oh yeah, now I remember. That bunny brunette in the middle sat on me while the other two poured beer down my throat. I'm sure this is not a flashback and one reason I ended up marrying a brunette.
When I go to Watkins Glen now adays for a track day, not only do I love the track and how deep the history is there, along with all my memories of many years of F1, CanAm, TransAm, and sports car racing that I've seen there, but that area is just so beautiful I love exploring. I always take a drive or two around the lake, stop at local pubs, wineries, check out the geology and sites. It's a beautiful part of the U.S. Years ago we stayed in one of the cabins on a hillside vineyard where the grape pickers stay during the picking season...a bit rougher than a motel but a fun and memorable experience.
Last year when I went to the Glen for the Vintage festival, we probably spent more time at the local wineries than we did at the track... mostly due to the amount of rain we had last year... What was interesting was how many people we ran into that had no idea about the vintage festival - they were in the area for the wineries. 
I lived in Northeastern Pa. as a kid an in the mid '60s I dragged my father to WG for the first time so we could get a glimpse of the "new, not yet in the local Ford dealer's showroom" Mustang. We didn't get to see the car, but we did see alot of neat cars in the parking lot and on the track. Quite a thrill for a 12 year old car nut who's previous exposure to racing was a small, local, dirt track with it's heavily modified stockers.
