Interceptor. Nice car. Was in great shape, rolling slow up the 110 N in Los Angeles.
It got me thinking. Which forum here would I be posting about the Jensen in? It's a Euro car, with a Mopar motor.
It got me thinking about hybrids. Not the kind we see now (which by the way have not convinced me that they are better for the environment than a regular gasoline engined car) but the kind we used to see. Jensen Interceptors and Formula Fergusons, Sunbeam Tigers, Cobras, Detamaso Panteras, and even the Mercury Capri.
These are the hybrids that I like. I apologize if I have left any out. Personally, I prefer the hybrids of yesteryear and take offense that a perfectly good sports car term has been co-opted by the green movement.
There are a lot of after-market hybrids out there too. I've seen Datsun Zs and Jaguars with V8 iron stuffed inside. I have friends running 914s with subaru turbos. Let's not forget the roto-spit!
I think we need to take our term back. Make them think of something else for their quasi-electric cars and save the term hybrid as it was originally intended.
