Love the ovals.
A.
Sweet. That's what they're meant for, ain't it? NICE ride.
How much room does a Fixed Head Coupe (correct term?) MGA have inside say compared to a MK II ('99) Miata? And that has got to be the sweetest looking MGAs.
Thanks guys. I'm very lucky to have it. My dad and I built the car 20 years ago and I paid for it feeding cows during the winter and putting up hay in the summer. The paint job was traded for a load of firewood. It's the one old machine I have that provides nothing but indescribable joy whenever I look, touch, or think about it. I love this car. In MG circles it's known as an MGA Coupe. If you're Alain De Cadenet, it's an MGA Coo pay...
I'm 6'3" and my wife is 6'2". We used to commute comfortably to work in it. She's great with child presently, so I drive it solo on the days she needs the Honda. Having spent time in '99 and '02 Miatas, I can say it's actually much more comfortable and roomy. If I sit up, I can straighten out my legs. The steering wheel telescopes and the seats sit on the floor (which is actually wood). The dash is flat metal and about 6" tall and there is a small armrest on the trans tunnel. Not much on the inside taking up space. It is, however, very hot inside, the exhaust runs directly under the driver (LHD) and wearing a helmet gets tight.
That is gorgeous! I have a reoccurring dream with me owning a white twin cam coupe. Anyone here interpret dreams? Maybe I'm trying to tell myself something.
Is it registered with those plates? If so, how'd you do it?
I had a Twin Cam once. It was part of a 3 or 4 MGA purchase made in the early 80s. Along with the cars, a barn full of parts was purchased for $500 total. In those parts was a TC engine complete, less air cleaners. The engine was sold to someone at Moss Motors for $700. One of the MGAs was so badly rusted that it was pushed into a low spot next to the workshop and covered over with dirt. Some years later, I found the TC air cleaners (sold them on eBay) in a box of parts. I suspect the MGA we buried was a TC, but when I say it was bad, it was really bad and I keep a lot of rusted junk. This things wasn't even worth scrap. At the time it seemed like a good deal. We got a pile of parts, a few cars, which we split, and came out $200 ahead. My uncle got a '57 Roadster, because he found the stuff and let us use his garage. He totaled it literally on the first drive. I got the Coupe, which was my first car. My dad got a pile of parts for his '59 Roadster. We've both been feeding on that pile for the last two decades. Back then TCs weren't a big deal and we couldn't see dragging it all the way home from my uncle's house just to have it sit around and rust more. I'm rambling...
Yes, the car is or was registered with that plate. I just went to my DMV and said I wanted to register it and they did. It was more expensive than a regular plate because it was considered a vanity plate. I've since switched to an antique plate. It's the same price as a regular plate, but it's good for 10 or 15 years. I just haven't gotten around to changing it. Bonus points to anyone that recognizes the significance of that number plate.
Pre 1963? Other than that... no idea!
Beautiful car. Someone should send a high-rez photo to me for the "drive it to work" section in the magazine.
I sent you a PM. I don't see a way to check PMs, so I don't know if attempting to send one does anything. LMK
