I am commiting a sin, I am going to put huge wheels and tires on an MGB. I mean really huge. The issue with this is that it was my intention to use a set of 240/280Z style ZG Fender Flares that a local guy said he had. He lied.

So I have been banging my head on the desk looking for a similar flare when I found this site: http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com/240z.html OMfnG! ZG flares exactly like I want for $200.00!!!

Does anyone have any experience with these guys at all?

And before anyone gets all "Oh my god that is not right for an MG!" The car is a rusted out turd and I slept at a Holiday Inn Express once.

The short list of what will be going on with the car is this: -Install 5.0L Ford long block w/ Weiand 8011 and Edelbrock 600cfm carb -Install C4 transmission -Hook up previosly installed driveshaft (it had a 2.3Lturbo/C3 previously) run fuel system for carbed application -Install 15x8" 0 offset wheels and 225/50r15 tires -Giggle my way through every powerslide.

I would suggest you buy the ZG flares from another source. I am getting mine from Classic Datsun because they have a much better reputation than Showcars. I have spoke to Les, the owner of Classic on the phone several times and he is a good guy who make quality parts and does outstanding restorations.

You should look at the Sebring MG flares, too. They look nice, and no MG nuts will give you any grief for them.

I definately do not want a molded in flare. I WANT a bolt on flare because I WILL be using this car at [gasp] drift and rally-x events as well as at auto-x events. I stand a great chance of cracking any and all additions, a molded unit would be destroyed almost instantly. (remember this car is already pretty weak from it enduring a trip back across the periodic table of elements) It will be outclassed by the cars IN its class but I will still be driving the wheels off it. There will be a cage to keep my body whole but the car will be "expendable" as most rally-x and drift cars are.

Jimbob, how much were the Classic flares? Link?

Actually, the sebring flares replace the entire front fender, and a huge chunk of of the rear is cut out and replaced with 'glass. If it's rusty, I was figuring it might be better, if it's rusty.

Somehow the old pics of the car got dumped off the server. I would show you exactly where it was bad. (I haven't gotten it out of hibernation yet.)

I gueaa I should qualify my idea of how I would like this car to come across. Think of the mechanic that built Max's Interceptor... I want people to feel like this was the car that inspired him ;)

THanks for the link! I too have been searching for some affordable bolt-on flares. Have you seen 240z flares on a 'B? Got any pix?

I was also thinking of these Miata flares. They are $260:

I think the Miata has a bit more "roll" in the shape of the side panel. If those were "flexible" it would work. I thought the Z ones would work because of the similar shape of the sides and the lack of noteable body lines... PLUS the wheels and tire sizes I would be using are closer to Z size than Miatae.

They also have bolt/rivet on for Datsun sedans.
