I'm off to the New Hampshire Vintage Celebration with my newly re-sprayed Spridget tomorrow. (actually May16-18). The re-spray was just a quickie, but it was really starting to look untidy...it's still sort of a lumpy, bumpy warhorse. That's OK.

It is now "#909" instead of "#11". Our Escort GT "modern" racer is also "909".

The "909" number is better because the vintage fields are pretty big and everyone seems to like using "11" (and I hate changing numbers at the track). No one seems to use "909". Also the "909" is an obvious ~Beatles Reference~ and a lot of folks seem to get that, which makes it more fun.

I have pulled a lot of the decals and stickers before the respray.....the vintage crowd seems to like more pure, plainer-looking cars. They're the opposite to the NASCAR crowd.

I'll be in New Hamphsire with VRG ( http://www.vrgonline.org/ ) This is our first vintage event of the season. We are hoping to go to the Mosport Vintage, the PVGP, the Watkins Glen/VRG plus others, as time allows.

I'll try to get some in-car video and post it.

The re-spray looks good. I hope you never end up being # 606.

    Ha Ha!

Yeah, a guy sometimes comes to our airport with an aerobatic airplane and his registration numbers read the same upside down upside....sorta funny!

Here's two vids from the New Hampshire Vintage (including a huge Lucas smoke-bomb at the end of the first video)

Mmmmmmmm...........don't you just love that smokey barbeque Lucas flavor. I trust the rest of you weekend went better.

Yeah, actually that was the last session on Friday so I didn't too lose much time.

We went out and got some tape and wire at a nearby Loew's Home Center and bodged the wiring back together.....an absolute A+ hackjob.

But it ran great the rest of the weekend....NOW I have to cut all that burned wire out and re-do the entire harness. It needs it anyway....the car is a '78 tub and it still has the radio wiring, the seat belt buzzer wiring and all that other nonsense.

I'm taking the Escort to Pocono this weekend (NASA) so I won't really have a chance to work on the wiring until next weekend. But I'll have it ready for the Pittsburgh Vintage.

I usually tell folks to turn down the sound on my vids so they don't have to listen to all that agricultural clattering and wheezing from my Brit-pushrod engine. But judging from your avatar, you're probably used to it.

It takes a real discerning ear to appreciate the bellow of the angry tractor that is my vintage Healey 6-cylinder racer. Unfortunately most of my neighbors don't possess such an ear, especially when tuning late at night before a race weekend. Ooooooooooops.
